St. Albans - Stanley Edward Wells passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Pennsylvania while on a motor coach trip. Stan was born September 2, 1941, to Grace (Caswell) Wells and Edward Wells who predeceased him. Stan married Janice (Jan) Wells in 1972 and together they joined two families. Stan’s children, Michael, Tammy and Debbie Wells Kronsburg and Jan’s children Trevor and Tracy Reed. Later they welcomed Heather Wells Lamothe to the mix and it was always a joke between Stan and Jan they had seen the movie “Yours, Mine and Ours “several times and didn’t learn a thing. Stan served in the Navy aboard the Intrepid and had the opportunity to show the ship on which he had served to one of his grandchildren, Joshua. It was a very proud moment in Stan’s life. Stan was a full-time member of the St. Albans Fire Department for many years. He had a passion for firefighting and passed that passion on to Joshua. Driving motor coach was his other passion, first for Mt. Transit and then for Bristol Tours. Stan drove coach for the Vermont Expo’s for several years. One of his proudest moments was when they called him out on the field during a game and presented him with a watch, the season was then topped by him being presented with his own championship ring when they won the pennant. In his countless miles he traveled to many interesting places, which afforded him the opportunity to meet many people. It was a standing joke that he could meet someone famous and not even know it. Those who knew him can attest that he always had a lot of stories and a good joke. He tells how he once had coffee with this gentleman and they sat and visited for quite a bit. When the man left he heard someone mention the man’s name but didn’t know who it was so when he got home he asked Jan if she had ever heard of someone named John Mellincamp. Over the years he had also met people such as The Lennon Sisters, Glenn Campbell, he even went to see the Pope. He was a people person for sure. He and Jan enjoyed traveling with their company Summit Travel to places like New Orleans, Memphis, Pigeon Forge and many other places to numerous to mention. Stan and Jan would like to thank each and everyone who have traveled with them over the years. You will never know how much each one of you meant to Stan. Stan leaves his wife, of almost 40 years, Jan, six children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his mother in law Lu Jarvis, four brother-in-laws and their spouses as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life in Stan’s honor on Friday March 16th from 6-9 pm at the VFW on the Lake Road in St. Albans. At Stan’s request the family will hold a private service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Albans Town Firefighters Association c/o Asst. Chief Randall Swann, 2465 Bronson Rd St. Albans Town, Vt, 05478.
