Obituary for Michael K. Luman

St. Albans – Michael K. Luman, 52, a longtime area resident passed away unexpectedly, Friday March 16, 2012, at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born on July 27, 1959, in Perigueux, France, Mike was the son of Shirley (Pelkey) Luman and the late Herman “Tinker” Luman. On July 15, 1989, in Holy Angels Church, Mike married Kathy Beaulieu, who survives him. Mike was a 1977 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then entered the United States Army. Upon his discharge he returned to B.F.A. and worked over 30 years with the maintenance staff. To everyone at the Academy he was known as the “Locker Man.” Mike and Kathy especially looked forward to and enjoyed the cruises they took together. Survivors include his mother, Shirley, of St. Albans; his wife of 22 years, Kathy, of St. Albans; their sons, Timothy and his wife, Maghon, of Essex, Eric of Burlington, Michael and his wife, Amanda, of Barre and Aaron of St. Albans and his grandchildren, Kyle, Hailey, Dakota, Alisa, Elijah, Taylor and Hayden. Mike is also survived by his siblings, Gary Benoit and wife, Dee, of Yorktown, VA, Philip Luman of Raleigh, NC and John Luman and friend, Anne, of South Burlington; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reba and Harold Lemnah; many extended family members and friends and also special friends, Sherry and Craig Caforia and Kathy and Brian Gagne. In addition to his father, Tinker, Mike was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Christopher Lemnah; his aunt and uncle, Bernard and Barb Pelkey and his aunt, Eleanor Pelkey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21st at 1:00 P.M. in Holy Angels Church on Lake Street. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant.
