Obituary for Beverly June Lapierre

Georgia – Beverly June Lapierre,62, lifelong resident of this area passed away late Tuesday evening, March 17, 2009, at her home on the Oakland Station Road with her loving family at her side. Born in St. Albans, Vermont on October 13, 1946, Bev was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Brusoe) Hatfield. On June 1, 1980, in St. Albans she married Steven L. Lapierre, who survives her. Bev attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School. She was employed at the former Cornerstone Restaurant, for several years she was a Meter Maid for the City of St. Albans, was employed at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, was custodian at the St. Albans Town Clerk’s Office and was a twenty year member of the St. Albans City Fire Department Call Force. She held the rank of Second Lieutenant as a volunteer with the Vermont State Guard where twice she was the recipient of the Vermont National Guard Commendation Medal. Bev enjoyed farming with her husband Steve, her several trips to various Casinos in New York, Montreal, Connecticut and Colorado and took great interest in the Military upon the enlistment of her two children. Survivors include her husband of twenty-eight years, Steven of Georgia; son, Kevin Lapierre and his wife, Melanie, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; daughter, Wendy Hopkins and her husband, Mark, of Albemarle, North Carolina; grandchildren, Vickie Collins, Gage Sise, Samuel Hopkins, David Hopkins, Caitlin Lapierre and Madison Lapierre. Bev is also survived by her siblings, Eleanor Gaboury and her husband, Paul, of Swanton, Patrice Serpe of Swanton, Carol Shorey of Sitka, Alaska; Betty Warren and her husband, Wayne, of Columbia, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her sister, Sally Lykens and nephew, Paulie “Tuke” Gaboury. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 21, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church of St. Albans on the North End of Church Street. The Reverend Judy Steger Kennedy, Pastor and Vermont State Guard Chaplain will officiate. Bev’s family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bev’s name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or the American Red Cross, Services to the Armed Forces, P.O.
