Obituary for William G. "Bill" Tuscany

St. Albans – William G. Tuscany a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the Lodge at Shelburne Bay with his daughters at his side. Born in St. Albans on March 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Doris (Whitcomb) Tuscany, He was 82 years old. Bill married Helen Jones on August 1, 1952 in Rawlings, Virginia. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2010. Bill served his country in the United States Army and remained in the National Guard Reserves until his retirement. His first job was working for the railroad for two years, before becoming and insurance agent for 38 years with the John Hancock Company. He was also a life member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, a member of the St. Albans Lodge 1566, B.P.O.E., St. Albans Lodge # 4, F&AM, Mt Sinai Temple # 3, A.A.O.N.M.S., Northern Vermont Shrine Club, the former Owl Club, Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion, Robert E. Glidden Post # 658, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Champlain Country Club. Survivors include his daughters, Gail Tuscany of Jericho and Kareen Simpers and her husband Bob of Granville, New York; his two granddaughters, Michelle Cadoret and her husband Justin, and Caitlin Codding. Bill is also survived by his brother-in-law, Wayne Bourgeois of Swanton and his sons and their families, Stephen Bourgeois and wife Debra, and Mike Bourgeois and wife Sherlyn; his half-brother, Alec Tuscany and family; his half-sisters, June Benoit and family and Debbie Sanders and family; also surviving him are several brothers and sisters-in-law and their families in Virginia, where Bill and Helen met, fell in love and had many, many wonderful visits throughout the years. Bill will always be remembered for many things: from his days as an insurance man, traveling to his clients homes around Franklin County, collecting the payments and spending time chatting over a cup of coffee. He always had a tune in his head, which he would hum or more often whistle as he went through life. Whether he was enjoying one of his favorite past times of golfing, fishing, woodworking or being in the company of his two treasured granddaughters, his chipper outlook on life would always shine through. We will always love you bunches, your family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will then be held at 7:00 P.M.in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Highgate Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Vermont Chapter, c/o FAHC-UHC-Department of Neurology, 1 South Prospect Street, Burlington, Vermont 05401 or the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02114.
