St. Albans – William Bronson, 75, died peacefully on November 1, 2013, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care following a short illness. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont on October 7, 1938, the son of George Elliott and Anna Cleveland Bronson. Bill grew up in St. Albans and attended schools there, graduating from BFA in 1957. After high school he worked with his father on the family farm. Following the death of his father in 1959, he continued to operate the dairy farm until his retirement in 1997. He received Milk Quality awards for the St. Albans Co-Op in 1967, 1968 and 1986. Up until the time of his death he was employed in the shipping department at Leader Evaporator. He was involved in his community as a lister for several years, fire warden for fifteen years and was a charter and twenty-five year member of the St. Albans Town Fire Department and served six years as Fire Chief. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 91 in Colchester and served with the Vermont Air National Guard for three years. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Mary (Masson) Bronson; his two sons, William Jr. and David and his wife, Beverly, and grandson, Michael. He also leaves behind a sister, Eleanor Messier of Williston, a brother-in-law, Andrew Masson and his wife, Agnes; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bianca and husband, James, and Cynthia Ann Simpson and husband, Michael, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 8, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 AM in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Hyung-Kyu Yi, Pastor of the Georgia United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Bronson family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478 of Franklin County Food Bank c/o Franklin Community Action/CVOEO, 5 Lemnah Drive, St. Albans, VT 05478.
