Obituary for Wheatleigh Wheelock
Alburgh, VT: Wheatleigh Wheelock of Alburgh, VT passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Melrose, Massachusetts Dec. 1, 1919, to Lyman and Bessie (Wheatley) Wheelock. He grew up in Woodsvelle, NH and Wells River VT where he graduated from High School in 1938. Bill served in the US Army and trained as a War Dog Handler from 1945 to1947 and was stationed in the Phillipines during the Second World War. After the war Bill joined the Vermont Fish and Game Service and worked as a Game Warden for 18 years in the Brattleboro area and for another 20 years in the north-west corner of VT where he retired from a supervisory position. In 1947 Bill married Donna Elizabeth Davison who passed away in 1977. He also spent 22 happy years as the close companion to Ruth Boyce of Alburg who passed away in 1999. Bill Wheelock is survived by his sons, Earl Wheelock of Moses Lake, Washington and Larry Wheelock of Bloomingrove, New York. A celebration of Bill's life with a time for sharing will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans, VT.
