St. Albans – Wanda E. Salter, 86, a resident of this area since 1973, passed away peacefully late Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Franklin County Rehab Center surrounded by her family. Born in Plainville, Connecticut, on February 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Albertina (Baroni) Fachini. Wanda was married on May 4, 1957, in New Britain, Connecticut to Wayne J. Salter, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1978. She was raised in Connecticut, worked at General Electric, where she met Wayne, fell in love, married, and started a family. Upon moving to St. Albans, they opened the Kit-N-Kaboodle antique shop, and served on the Maple Festival Committee. After Wayne’s passing, she became employed at Franklin Lamoille Bank. Wanda was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, and she was also a cancer survivor. She enjoyed being with family, baking goodies for everyone, watching college basketball, making puzzles, playing cards, and sharing good times with her wonderful friends at Heritage Lane. Survivors include her children, Karen Salter-Ryan and husband, Gerald of St. Albans, Robert Salter of St. Albans, Norman Salter and wife, Lynda of Monkton. Her grandchildren include Jennifer Paul and husband, David, Christopher Salter-Ryan, Rachel Salter-Ryan, Morgan Salter, Mallory Shepard and husband Steve, and her great-granddaughter, Ayla Shepard. Wanda is also survived by her sister, Norma Giguere of New Britain, Connecticut. She also leaves many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nilo Fachini and his wife, Peggy, and a brother-in-law, Norman Giguere. Warmest thanks to Roberta and Bud Bruley from Karen, Robert, and Norman for a lifetime of love and support. A special thanks to the staff at the Franklin County Rehab Center, for the loving care and support given to Wanda and her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday September 16, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, September 17th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 17th at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Maurice J.
