Obituary for Timothy P. Ovitt

Timothy P. Ovitt Highgate Center - Timothy P. Ovitt, 48, a lifelong area resident passed away late Friday, October 20, 2006, at his home with his family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont on February 8, 1958, the son of John and Elizabeth (Edwards) Ovitt. On February 21, 2004, in Hardwick, Vermont he married Lisa (Greenwood)Bushey, who survives him. Tim was a 1976 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. He was employed for many years working on the Riverside Farm in Hardwick, the Larry Lumsden Farm in Greensboro and, until his illness, working for the Bigelow family on the Riverview Farm in Swanton. Tim was an avid sports enthusiast. His favorite teams were the Cleveland Browns and the Boston Red Sox. He loved to watch and participate in hockey games and enjoyed playing golf, especially with his family. Tim was proud of his collection of military models which included War Ships and Aircraft. He loved to listen to music, especially the “Blues”, being with animals and in the outdoors. Poker night with the boys in Hardwick was a favorite. Tim was a great fan of NASCAR and of Dale Jarrett, whom he met in Loudon, New Hampshire in July of 2006. Survivors include his parents; Jack and Libby Ovitt of Sun City, Hilton Head, South Carolina, his wife; Lisa of Highgate Center, his two children; Nathaniel Ovitt of St. Albans and Ashley Bithorn and her husband, Captain James Bithorn and their son, Ryan all of Fort Benning, Georgia, his step-daughters; Cara Bushey of Swanton and Lindsey Bushey and her companion; Clifford Patterson of Richford, his step-granddaughter; “the apple of his eye” Evony Storm Bushey, his sister; Caren Ovitt and her companion, Patrick Charron and their children; Joshlyn Ovitt and Ryan Charron, his brother; Brad Ovitt and his wife, Julie and their son, Jacob all of Greenville, North Carolina, special friends; William and Jude Bridwell of Hardwick, a special friend who was like a “little sister”; Susan Richard Baird, a special aunt, Marilyn Toof of St. Albans, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Carol Greenwood of Highgate and Ila Greenwood Parrotte of St. Albans, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends in the Greensboro and Hardwick area, and his two cats; “Tuff Guy” and “Baby Girl”. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 7:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Roland Ludlam, Pastor of the Church of the Rock officiating. Tim’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. until the time of the service.
