St. Albans – Thelma L. Thuot, a longtime area resident passed away early Friday July 12, 2013, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with her loving family at her side. Born in Bad Axe, Michigan on September 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Haswell and Vina (Bates) Brown. Thelma was 87 years old. In April of 1957, in St. Albans, she married Elphege J. Thuot, who preceded her in death in August of 1987. Thelma was associated with the former Fonda Container Corp for 30 years. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of St Anne. She believed in helping others and volunteered as an original member of the Mother’s Club, Martha’s Kitchen, Bishop Fund and area nursing homes. She enjoyed spending times with her friends bowling, yoga and water aerobics. Her greatest joy was to travel with friends and groups to places such as Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Survivors include her children, Peter Doner, Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Enosburg; Paul Thuot and his wife, Jennifer, of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania and Denise Magnant and her husband, Laurence, of St. Albans; her five grandchildren, Peter Doner, Jr., Dwayne Doner and his wife, Elise, Angie Conger and her husband, Brad and Gwen Magnant and Patrick Magnant and her nine great-grandchildren, Bradly, Jr., Bree, Keith, Devin, Andrew, Isaiah, Noah, Finn and Rubin. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Brown and his wife, Evelyn, of San Ysidro, California and many livelong friends, close friends and acquaintances. In addition to her parents and her husband, Elphege, Thelma was preceded in death by her son, Patrick R. Doner, on August 4, 1967, from injuries sustained in Viet Nam. Thelma was recognized as a Gold Star Mother. Thelma’s family would like to the thank Dr. Marco and the staff at Franklin County Rehab for the care and support that she and her family received during her stay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, July 15, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16th at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 246 Lake Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Private interment will be in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
