Obituary for Thelma A. Barker

Thelma A. Barker St. Albans Bay - Thelma A. Barker, 86, a lifelong area resident passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her family at her side. She was born in St. Albans, Vermont on February 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Lewis J. and Mable D. (Mercier) Rocque. Thelma was married to Robert J. Barker, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1980. Thelma and Robert owned and operated Barker’s Pavilion at St. Albans Bay for many years. Prior to then, they both worked at Sikorsky Aircraft Manufacturing in Stratford, Connecticut during World War II. Survivors include her sons; Robert A. Barker of St. Albans and Gary L. Barker and his wife, Diane of St. Albans, her two granddaughters; Colleen Greene and her husband, Bennett of Essex and Denise Landry of Ashland, Virginia, her sister-in-law; Katherine Rocque of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma is preceded in death by her brother; Maurice L. Rocque on July 13, 1992 and her sister; Lucille M. Taylor on August 31, 2002. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of her family at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy, Pastor of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
