St. Albans – Mrs. Sylvia Cora Reynolds died peacefully at the home she was born in, on Sunday, November 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 6, 1920, the daughter of Augustin and Corilla (Deslauriers) Guay. Sylvia was a graduate from Holy Angels Convent, Bellows Free Academy; attended UVM and graduated from the Copley School of Fashion and Merchandising in Boston. She was a buyer-clerk and later manager of William Doolin & Co from 1958 to 1986; curator of the Franklin County Museum in 1988 and 1989, now the St. Albans Historical Museum. She also was employed at the Shelburne Museum from 1987 to 1997 and again in 2000. She was a member of the Green Mountain Post#1, American Legion Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the St. Albans Historical Society, lifetime member of the Shelburne Museum, charter member of the Franklin County Quilters Guild, a longtime member of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, member L’Union Saint Jean de Baptist Council Joseph Guay # 37, a member of the Northwestern Medical Center Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish in St. Albans and a member of the Ladies of Saint Ann of Holy Angels. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Jackson S. Reynolds, her mother, Corilla Deslauriers Guay, her father, Augustin Guay, her sister, Dolores Guay and her brother, Bernard J. Guay and his wife Noella Gaboury Guay. She is survived by her son, Marc J. Reynolds and his wife, Patricia Howrigan Reynolds of St. Albans; grandchildren, Aaron and his wife, Shan, Brian and his wife, Kelly, David and his wife, Jennifer, and Sarah and her husband, Jason Bonnett. She is also survived by her daughter, Gay M. Craig and her husband, William J. Craig of South Burlington; grandsons, Jackson Craig and his wife, Tracy, and Jesse Craig and his wife, Jane. “Mame’s†greatest joy was her great-grandchildren, Ava, Gianna, Zachary, Joshua, Jacob, Ella and Graiden Reynolds, Owen and Neva Bonnett and Kylie, David and Lily Craig. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Catherine Reynolds Earle of St. Albans, many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Una Howard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. Sylvia’s family will receive friends immediately following the mass in Holy Angels Parish Hall. Those wishing to honor Sylvia’s memory may make a contribution to the F.
