Obituary for Stanley R. Cummings

Stanley R. Cummings St. Albans - Stanley R. Cummings, 73, a lifelong area resident passed way unexpectedly Monday April 9, 2007, in Jamaica as a result of an automobile accident. He was born August 23, 1933 the son of the late Ormill and Clara (Lahue) Cummings. His wife, Janann K. (Jansen) Cummings died in the same accident. Stan was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and worked in the newspaper business for many years, for the St. Albans Messenger and the Enosburg Courier. In recent years he was proprietor of the North Country Press until his retirement. He was a former St. Albans City Councilman. Survivors include his former wife, and mother of his three sons, Florence Cummings of St. Albans, his sons and their wives; Scott and Wendy Cummings of Tampa, FL, Steve and Kathleen Cummings of St. Albans and Jay and Jennifer Cummings of Swanton. Two daughters, Crystal and Ashley of Bonita Springs, FL, a brother, Richard Cummings and his wife, Catherine of St. Albans, a granddaughter, Danielle Cummings, a niece, Cheryl Gustavson and her husband, Glenn and two nephews, Douglas and Brian Cummings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be later this spring in the Cummings Family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to either Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478 or The Jim Bashaw Cancer and Catastrophic Illness Fund, c/o Northwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 1370, St. Albans VT, 05478. The Heald Funeral Home is assisting Stan’s family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be sent to the family through May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always be at your back. May the sunshine warm your face. May the rain fall softly upon your fields And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. We will miss your kind words, gentle touch, easy going nature and sense of humor. We love you Steamer.
