Richford/St. Albans Shelvajean "Shelley" Johnson Austin, 74, a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Redstone Villa. She was born in South Richford, Vermont on February 25, 1938. Shelley was a 1956 graduate of Richford High School and for many years was employed at the M.H. Fishman Company and the F.W. Woolworth Company both in St. Albans. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly A. Austin-Johnson of St. Albans, a foster son, William of New York, her brother, Willard D. Johnson and his wife, Rose of St. Albans Bay, a brother-in-law Arlin Jewett of Berkshire Center, a sister-in-law, Muriel Dandurand of Franklin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shelley was preceded in death by her brother, Wallace M. Johnson and her four sisters; Blanche Ann Mitchell, Geneva Jewett, Bertha Longley, Millie Johnson and close friend, Patricia Gordon. Her daughter Kim would like to thank the staff at Redstone Villa, Franklin County Home Health, Northwestern Medical Center, AmCare Ambulance and St. Albans City Fire Department for their assistance over the years. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Heald Funeral Chapel with Father Brian O’Donnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson family lot in Hillside Cemetery in Richford. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hearing Health and Communication Program, c/o The Vermont Department of Health, 108 Cherry Street, Burlington, Vermont 05401 or Prevent Child Abuse in Vermont, P.O.
