St. Albans Bay - Sandra L. Coon, 68, died at home with her family by her side on July 6, 2011. Sandy was born on December 7, 1942, in Burlington, the oldest daughter of Walter P. and Theresa E. LaBounty. A graduate of Burlington High School in 1960, she went on to work for a short time at Green Mountain Power Corporation. She married Henry S. Coon, Jr. of St. Albans Bay in 1961 and together they owned and operated C&L Beverage Mart in Burlington. Sandy later worked as a pharmacy technician at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans for approximately 10 years. Sandy was an avid reader and could often be found immersed in a book well into the night. She laughed easily and could light up a room with her smile. She will be remembered as an exceptional listener with the ability to put others at ease with her kind, thoughtful and compassionate disposition. She has left an indelible mark on the lives she has touched, and for all of those who loved her, the world is a better place because she was in it. Sandy was predeceased by her mother, Theresa E. LaBounty, in 2003. She leaves behind her husband and best friend of 49 years, Henry S. Coon, Jr. of St. Albans Bay, her daughter, Kimberley A. Coon and her partner, Sheila S. Jacobs of Colchester, her father, Walter P. LaBounty of South Burlington, her brother and his wife, Walter Richard LaBounty and Mary LaBounty of Loris, South Carolina, her brother Ronald LaBounty and his partner, Laurie Farrell, of South Burlington, her sister and her husband, Christine Palmer and Alan Palmer, of Shelburne, her brother, Gary LaBounty of Essex Center, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at FAHC for their exceptional care and Franklin County Home Health for assisting Sandy with dignity and compassion. Contributions in Sandy’s memory may be made to Franklin County Home Health Agency & Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, Suite 1, St. Albans, VT 05478. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street in St. Albans. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Resurrection Park, 160 Hinesburg Road in South Burlington.
