Swanton – Roy I. Yandow,71, a longtime area resident passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 2, 2012, shortly after arrival at Northwestern Medical Center. Born on August 21, 1940, in Essex, Vermont, Roy was the son of the late Isadore V. and Jeanne (Pouliot) Yandow. On April 13, 1968, in Swanton, Roy married Betty Sullivan who survives him. Roy served his country in the United States Army and owned and operated Yandow & Sons Paving. He also enjoyed camping, gardening and riding his golf cart with his grandchildren. He valued his family and all the time he got to spend with his grandchildren and great children. He was very proud of each and everyone one of them. Family was everything. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Betty; his children, Kim & Rick Nichols, Kyle Yandow, Keane and Lindsey Yandow and Christopher Casavant; his grandchildren, Kylie, Kaleb, Brett, Harley, Gunnar, Tannar, Riley, Mason and Emily and his great grandchildren, Koopar and Khenzie. Roy is also survived by his siblings, Muriel Yandow, Cleo and Cookie Yandow, Andre and Jackie Yandow, Ted and Mary Yandow, Lauriette and John Winters, Denis and Carol Yandow, Rose and Glen Wright, Marc and Rachel Yandow, Jim Yandow, Lise Morrison, Rober Yandow, Amy and Greg Zygmont, Jon and Lise Yandow; his many nieces and nephews and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Marie Sullivan and Marc and Linda Bechard. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his in-laws, Armelle and Lyle Sullivan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 7th at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street, St. Albans. Those wishing to honor Roy’s memory are asked to contribute to the Vermont Heart Association, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
