Obituary for Roger Raser
St. Albans, VT/ Poinciana, FL - Roger Raser, 91, a longtime summer resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21st, 2022, at the Davenport Care Center in Davenport, FL.

Roger was born in Layton, NJ. on April 8, 1931. He was the son of the late Oren and Bertha (Hotelan) Raser.

On July 21, 1996, in a ceremony conducted by the bride's father, he married Mary Jane Fonda, who survives him.

Roger retired as a Master Sergeant after serving 21 years in the USAF. Following his service, he spent 20+ years in the Recreational Vehicle business in San Antonio and served as president of the Texas RV Assn. During a brief retirement period, he conducted a weekly rodeo for the Bandera Chamber of Commerce and served as Chairman of the Bandera Convention and Visitors Bureau. Still wanting to serve his community he was elected County Commissioner and later County Judge. After his final retirement, he was proud to be a Founder and 1st President of the Texas Equestrian Trail Riders Assn. Roger and Mary Jane moved to Solivita, an active senior community in Poinciana, FL where he was soon surrounded by many good friends. During the summers, the couple enjoyed spending time on Lake Champlain catching fish and relaxing. He loved playing golf until the age of 90 and was proud to have shot his age numerous times. Roger loved to be surrounded by his family and friends sharing a meal and some drinks with the biggest smile.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Raser; son, Rick Raser; daughter, Ronda Raser Jones; step-son, Scott Gallagher and step-daughter, Lisa Orendorff, as well as 7 grandchildren, Chrissy Feagans, Jenna and Jacob Jones, Chad McKune, Lexie and Grace Gallagher and Emily Orendorff and 6 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Paycen and Presley Feagans; Charli, Leighton and Isla McCune.

In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his first wife, Lois, and his brothers Walter and Ralph.

Private services with military honors will be held at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roger’s name may be made to the American Heart Assn or the National Cancer Society.
