Roger A. “Tooter†King West Peabody, MA/St. Albans, VT- Roger Allen King (Tooter) 76, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Beverly Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Potter King. Born in St. Albans, VT, on June 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Frederick L. and Anna (Shepard) King. Tooter was employed by H. W. Hungerford & Sons for many years, prior to pursuing a career in the food packaging industry. He was well respected for his knowledge of equipment and machinery and his ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently, as he contracted with several dairy companies around the United States. Following his retirement from the industry, he pursued his favorite hobby, woodworking. He established a small, local woodworking business known as Bubba & Me Woodworking. Tooter was a master craftsman and “Jack of All Tradesâ€. He lovingly shared his wealth of knowledge, not only with his family and friends, but also donated his time to local organizations as well. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Tooter enjoyed a good round of golf, hunting, fishing, a quick trip to the casino and a sunny beach in the Bahamas. Besides his wife Pat of 54 years, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Deb and Dan Bushey of Fairfield; grandchildren, Sadie Bushey and Chuck Russell, Carly Bushey and Jessie Bushey. He is also survived by his brothers’ and sisters’ -in-law; Joseph M. and Elizabeth P. Schuler of Georgia VT, Col. (Ret) E. Robert Nolin of Warwick NY, and Mary King of Shelburne VT. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Robert and Byron, Betty (King) Girard, and in-laws Kathleen Nolin and James Girard and by his close friend Brian Petersen. He will be missed by his special friends; Jim Jeffries, Bob Baker, David Tahaney and Ben Berlanieri. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Beverly Hospital, Critical Care Unit, for their expert care, support, and kindness. There could have been no finer commitment to a positive outcome. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, April 16, 2011, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Heald Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage officiating.
