Grand Isle - Robert A. Bean, Jr. passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 15, 2013. Robbie was born on October 30, 1971, in Burlington, VT, the son of Robert and Priscilla Bean. He attended grade school at Mater Christi in Burlington and graduated from South Burlington High School in 1989. After high school Rob enlisted in the US Army and was in the 86th Airborne Division. Always the thrill seeker, he loved jumping out of planes. Once he left the Army, Robbie decided to follow in his grandfather’s shoes and become a chef. He graduated from New England Culinary Institute in 1999 and was an amazing pastry chef. Rob opened The Bakery at Junior’s and worked in many area restaurants over the years. Robbie loved the mountains and skiing…FAST… as he always said, turns are for wimps! He grew up skiing at Smugg’s and competed in numerous mogul competitions in the early 1990’s. Robbie headed out west in search of deeper powder and found it in California, Colorado, and in Alta, Utah which was his favorite place. He and his Dad had some very memorable ski trips together. Rob had a very dry wit and sarcastic sense of humor that everyone loved. He was an animal lover and could bond with any four-legged creature. Robbie is survived by his father, Bob Bean, of Grand Isle, his sister, Sarah Rocheleau and her husband, Dana, and niece, Taylor of Georgia. He is also survived by his loyal beagle companion and best friend, Rufus Elizabeth. Robbie was predeceased by his mother, Priscilla Bean, his maternal grandparents, Loring Coes, Jr. and Elizabeth (Carlton/Coes) Newhall, and his paternal grandparents, Ashley and Virginia Bean. He was also predeceased by his beagle buddies, Bernard Elizabeth and Loring Elizabeth. Rob’s family and friends will have a celebration bonfire later this summer to share stories and memories of Rob’s very adventurous life. Private messages of condolence to Rob’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Chittenden County Humane Society, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, Vermont 05403. “ LYSYBâ€
