Obituary for Ralph "Poppy" George Morse

Ralph “Poppy” George Morse St. Albans - Ralph “Poppy” George Morse, 88, a resident of this area since 1980, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007, at Haven Health Care Facility. He was born in Canaan, New Hampshire on October 23, 1918, the son of the late Clarence E. and Carrie A. (Humphrey) Morse. Ralph was married on April 15, 1939, to the former Marry Perron. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2006. Ralph was educated in Brattleboro. He then went on to serve his country during World War II, in the United States Marines. He worked at The Vermont National Bank as President and the Springfield Co-Operative Savings and Loan Association. He served the Town of Springfield as an Assessor, Lister and Selectman. Ralph was the Compliance Inspector for the Veterans Administration, was Vice-President, Vermont League of Co-Operative Savings and Loan Associations from 1961-1962, President of the Vermont League of Co-Operative Savings and Loans Association from 1971-1973, Director of New England Conference of Saving and Loans Association from 1971-1973, a member of the Management Committee, U.S. Savings and Loans Association, member of Committee on Supervision, Examination and Audit of U.S. Savings and Loan League, member of Committee on FSLIC and Regulations, and was a Real Estate Appraiser for the Federal and State of Vermont. He was a former member of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and Springfield Lodge # 1560, B.P.O.E. Survivors include his two daughters and their husbands; Sandra M. and Bernard Harvey of Highgate Center, and Linda M. and Christopher Neronski of Virginia Beach, Virginia, three sisters; Celia Carley of Brattleboro, Vermont, Beatrice Brown of Vernon, Vermont and Marion Bemis of Indianapolis, Indiana, two brothers, Robert Morse of Springfield, Vermont and Harry Morse of Brattleboro, Vermont, six grandchildren; Robin Bilodeau and her husband, Jamie Bilodeau, Alan Neronski and his wife, Amy, Timothy Neronski and his fiancé, Kristine, Shawn Neronski and his fiancé, Ashley, Dennis Harvey and his wife Christine, and Pamela Harvey and her fiancé, Jim Ryea, ten great-grandchildren; Jenna Young and her husband, Eric, Courtney Gosselin, Haley Gosselin, Michael Harvey, Andrew Harvey, Brooke Harvey, Benjamin Harvey, Danielle Poirier, Christopher Lavee, and Kari Lavee, two great great- grandchildren, Colby Young and Samarah Lavee and two step-great -grandchildren, Kali and Jessi Bilodeau. In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by a grandson; B. J. Harvey on December 8, 2001, a great-grandson; C. J. Poirier on May 15, 1989, his brothers, Erlon and Harold, and his sisters, Hazel Morse, Ruth Hamilton and Mildred Clark. Ralph’s family would like to thank the staff and residents at Haven Health Care Facility for the care and friendship he received during his stay. Also a special thanks to Robin Bilodeau and her husband, Jamie for the care they gave their grandfather. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery. The Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street is assisting Ralph’s family with arrangements.
