St. Albans – Pauline Dorothy Thomas, 84, a resident of this area since 1946, passed away late Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her family at her side. Born on December 8, 1927, in London, England, Polly was the daughter of the late John W.A. and Gladys (Johnson) Stammers. On September 22, 1945, in South Ruislip, England, Polly married Llewellyn “Tom†Thomas, who preceded her in death in January of 1992. Polly worked at Montgomery Wards for many years, advancing to store manager before going on to other endeavors. Polly retired from the former Fonda Container Corp, was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Northwestern Medical Center for over 20 years. Survivors include her sons, Bradley Thomas and wife, Marie, and Peter Thomas and wife, Sally, all of St. Albans; her grandchildren, Kevin Thomas and partner, Jessica Beaudoin and daughters, Persephonie & Mersaylia; Sarah Burdo and husband, Mike; Amanda Thomas; Trafton Thomas and Brandon Thomas; her sister, Babs Hogue and brother, John Stammers; sisters-in-law, Waneta Tanner and Catherine Thomas and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Polly was preceded in death by her son, Michael and twin sons, David and Duane. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, March 8, 2012, from 1 to 2 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend David Veale officiating. Interment will be later this spring in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.
