North Hero – Pauline A. “Polly” (Bishop) Doucet passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, with family members at her side. Born in Potsdam, NY on November 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late, William and Nina (Fitzgibbons) Wright. Polly was 88 years old. In 1957, she moved to Rutland, VT, where she was employed at Vermont Transit until 1961, when she and her husband Clarence F. Bishop, moved to South Burlington. There she raised 2 daughters, Bonita A. Bishop-Rimmer who predeceased her on May 1, 2000 and Susan E. (Bishop) Lawrence. Polly was employed in the Credit Department of the DeGoesbriand Unit of the VT Medical Center for many years and then at IBM in Essex for a time. She was a Foster Grandparent at the Grand Isle Elementary School in her retirement years. Polly also volunteered as a Meal on Wheels Delivery driver for a short time. Her greatest joy was her family, her pets and playing Bingo with friends in the Lake Champlain Islands. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Bishop Lawrence of North Hero and son-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Rimmer of So Hero; her grandchildren, Emily Marie Lawrence of Wakefield RI, Peter Anthony Lawrence, Jr. of St. Albans, Andrew William Lawrence of Kingsbay, GA, Sarah Pauline Lawrence of No Hero, Evan Bishop-Rimmer of Manhattan, NY and Elise Bishop-Rimmer of Brookline, MA as well as her former husband, companion and love, Clarence “Bish” Bishop and her well-loved golden retriever “Mae”. In addition to her parents and daughter, Bonita Anne Bishop-Rimmer, she was preceded in death by her husband, Regis Doucet, who passed away on February 14, 2011. A graveside memorial service at Hyde Cemetery, North Hero will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
