St. Albans Town – Paul Philip Joseph Viens, 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by his family. Paul was born on January 13, 1925, in Georgia, VT, the son of Philip and Amanda (Loiselle) Viens. He worked for more than three decades for the Central Vermont Railroad as a heavy equipment operator. Paul loved to hunt, fish, and simply spend time enjoying the natural beauty of Vermont. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 297. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Therese Marie (Denicourt) Viens of St. Albans; 3 adoring daughters, Carol Hodet and her husband, Mike, of St. Albans, Elaine Marie Viens and her husband, Mark Johnson, of Lincoln, VT and Julie Viens and her husband, Mark Gottlieb, of Cambridge, MA; 7 grandchildren, Eve Shepard, Allen Marshall, Patrick and Allison Hodet and Sophie, Shayla and Samuel Gottlieb; 2 great-grandchildren, Silas and Sadie Shepard; and his siblings, Anna Cota of Swanton, Raymond Viens of Winooski, Sister Berthe Viens of Manchester, NH, Irene Brosseau of Swanton and Leonard “Joe†Viens of Colchester and many nieces and nephews. Paul brought happiness and joy to all his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his siblings, Aline (6yrs), Rolande (21yrs) , Roland Viens, Rita Beaulieu and Lucien Viens and a granddaughter, Sylvie Pascale Hodet. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Holy Angels Church, 246 Lake St. St. Albans with the Rev. Maurice J. Roy officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Albans. Friends are invited to call at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans on Friday, November 8th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
