St. Albans – Paul E. Therrien, 76 years old of 125 Grice Brook Road died at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Born in Highgate, Vermont on September 21, 1932, Paul was the son of the late Elphege and Cecile (Chevalier) Therrien. On February 17, 1953 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, he married the former Anita Bilodeau, who survives him. Paul had a cattle business while living in Georgia and then owned and operated Therrien’s Market on Barlow Street, St. Albans. After selling the grocery store, he moved to Highgate where he ran Therrien’s Mobile Home Park for several years. Paul and Anita spent many winters in Florida. He was a member of the Franklin County Senior Center and St. Albans Lodge # 1566, B.P.O.E., a director of the Grice Brook Association and a former Treasurer and Director of Hi-Swans Senior Center in Swanton. Besides his wife of fifty-six years, Anita, Paul leaves two daughters, Susan Dunbar and Denise Beers all of St. Albans, two grandchildren, Jenniffer Dunbar and Jason Dunbar and his wife, Mandy, and their two children, Arianna and Draven, all of St. Albans; two sisters, Claire Therrien and Jeannine Ostiguy and her husband, Gerald, all of St. Albans; his aunt, Cecile Thibault of St. Albans and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul is also survived by several close friends, including his “Poker Groupâ€. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Rexford and Lise Therrien and two infant brothers, Paul G. Therrien and Girard J. Therrien and son-in-law, Mark Beers. Paul was a devoted husband and loving father, with a passion for card playing, especially poker and 500. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will be later this spring in the Therrien lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Vermont Heart Association, 12 Hurricane Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495.
