St. Albans – Octave G. Blouin, 76, a lifelong resident and well known businessman passed away early, Monday February 15, 2010, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with his family at his side. Born in St. Albans on October 29, 1933, he was the son of the late Cyprien and Eva (Geraw) Blouin. On October 11, 1958, in Highgate, Octave married Theresa Bilodeau, who survives him. Octave graduated from Holy Angels Grammar School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. At the age of fifty-five, he retired after thirty-five years of service to Dowling’s Wholesalers Incorporated. By hobby, Octave was an entrepreneur, owning various properties in St. Albans and was proprietor of Blouin Auto Sales and Blouin Oil Company. Octave was High Bailiff for many years, a Justice of the Peace, a member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion, a communicant of Holy Angels Parish and former member of Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus Council # 297 and St. Albans Lodge # 1090, L.O.O.M. Octave took great pride with all his accomplishments. He would set a goal; achieve it and then move on to the next challenge. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, walking, going to car auctions, landscaping, and volunteering at the local town hall. He will be missed by his family. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Theresa of St. Albans; his children, Raymond Blouin and his fiancée, Nichole Waite, of St. Albans; Julie Rollo and her husband, Jeffrey, of St. Albans Bay and Jeffrey Blouin and his companion, Amy Larivee-Eldridge, of Swanton; his grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia Blouin and their mother, Stefanie Burl Blouin; Natasha Blouin and James and Jordan Rollo. Octave is also survived by his two sisters, Betty Lumbra of St. Albans and Eva Griffith of Connecticut and his brother, Herbert Blouin of St. Albans; his sisters-in-law, Doris Nadeau, Anita Therrien, Pauline Greenia, Louise Smith and her husband, Alton, Alise Estell and her husband, Roger; his brothers-in-law, Reginald Bilodeau and his wife, Susan, Lionel Bilodeau, Germaine Bilodeau and his wife, Giselle, and many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Octave was preceded in death, by his brothers, Arthur, Joseph, Carl, John and Charles; his sister, Anna Boulet; his half brother, Samuel Blouin; his sisters-in-law, Rachel Gagne and Giselle Smith and his brothers-in-law, André, Norman, Donald and John Bilodeau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Octave’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.
