St. Albans, VT: Norman Raymond Chapdelaine, (SGT-Retired) 67, passed away unexpectedly July 18, 2015, at his home in St. Albans. Born in Newport, VT July 11, 1948, he was a son of the late Rene and Marguerite (Martel) Chapdelaine. Norman graduated from North Country Union High School in Newport in 1969 at which time he enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served 24 years of active duty, then another 13 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict retired as a Supply Sergeant in 2008 after a total of 37 years of honorable service. Following his retirement, Norman was employed as a security guard at Ben & Jerry’s in St. Albans, where he made his home. Norman took great interest in the history of ST. Albans and frequently visited the St. Albans Historical Museum. He leaves a daughter, Monique Chapdelaine and two grand-daughters, Javona and Jaliyah Farrington, his former wife, Elaine Blyden and one step daughter, Michelle Todman, residing in the British Virgin Islands and four step-sons, Mervin Todman, Marshall Todman, Malcolm Todman and Michael Todman all residing in the USA. He also leaves a brother, Raymond Chapdelaine of Stowe and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Norman was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert Chapdelaine in 1966, while serving in the U.S. Air Force. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 487 Furnace Road, Randolph Center, VT, with interment to follow with Military Honors.
