St. Albans – Norman Eugene Perras, 81, a lifelong area resident passed away Thursday May 31, 2012, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with his loving family at his side. Born in St. Albans on April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Asmond and Maria (Pelon) Perras. On August 15, 1953, Norman married Irene Florence Conger, who preceded him in death on May 30, 2006. Norman was a veteran of the Korean War and then worked for several years at the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery and retired after 32 years of service with Champlain Cable. Survivors include his son, Richard Bittner and his wife, Rita, of Milton, Vermont; two daughters, Darlene LeClaire and her husband, Roger, of St. Albans, Vermont and Sandra Root and her husband, Bernard, of Orange City, Florida; his daughter-in-law, Pearl Bittner, of Colchester, Vermont; his brother, Fern Perras and his wife, Helen, of Seminole, Florida; his sister, Yolond Dawson of St. Petersburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Norman is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lucille Perras of St. Albans, Vermont, Alice Perras of Georgia, Vermont, Betty Rutz of Milton, Vermont and Beverly Conger of Milton, Vermont and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife of 52 years, Norman was preceded in death by his son, Fred Bittner; grandson, Ricky Bittner; brothers, Maurice and Gerald; sister, Jeanine West and brothers-in-law, West Wissel and Vernon Dawson. Norman’s family would like to thank the staff at Franklin County Rehab Center for their tender loving care of our father. At Norman’s request there will be no services. Burial will be private in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Norman’s memory are asked to contribute to the Franklin County Rehab Center, 110 Fairfax Road, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
