Obituary for Norma Leone Reed

Alburgh Springs – Norma Leone Reed, 89, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully Friday evening, January 20, 2012, at her home with her loving extended family at her side. She was born on August 25, 1922, in Hartford, VT, the daughter of the late Harold J. and Esther (Boutwell) Reed. Norma resided at the Brandon Training School where she assisted in the nursery and dining room. Upon moving to the Franklin County area she became associated with the Marshall Center, where she held several positions with area business’ that contracted work with them. Norma was an original participant of the NCSS Seniors Program, was a member of the PAEA Bell Choir, a member of Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, a former member of the Franklin County Senior Center, regularly attended mass at Holy Angels Church, enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles and was always there to help people. To her family and friends she was known as the “Little Angel.” Survivors include her brother, Gerald of Ascutney, VT, her sister in law, Emma Reed of Ascutney, several nieces and nephews; her loving care givers of 25 years, Lucille and Francis Pelkey of Swanton and more recently Shirley and Ray Bohannon of Alburgh Springs, her extended family, Heather, Mary Beth, Virginia, Donald, Amanda, Barb, Shelley, Bonnie and Alma. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Edward and Francis and her sisters, Evelyn and Lyndall. Norma’s extended family would like to thank the staff of the Franklin County Home Health Agency and Visiting Nurses Association for the wonderful care and support she received throughout the past many years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 1 to 2 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be then held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with the Reverend Mr. Dwayne E. Langlois officiating. Interment will be held later this spring in the family lot in the West Hartford Cemetery.
