Georgia – Nettie “Joyce” Devarney, a longtime area resident passed away Monday evening, September 1, 2014, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Born on September 23, 1938, in Covington, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Norma (Stringfield) Scallorn. Joyce was 75 years old. Joyce was married to Chester B. Devarney and they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 16th. She enjoyed her family, reading, trips to the Casino, family outings and games with her grand kids! Joyce took a great deal of pleasure in cooking for all of us. Survivors include her husband, Chester; their children, Kathy and Roy Ferland and family, Nancy Devarney and family, Sharron and Jim Derosia and family, Diane and Steven Tuttle and family and Chet and Skye DeVarney and family. Joyce is also survived by her brother, David Johnson; brother-in-law, Ernest and wife, Peggy Devarney, and family and sister-in-law, Carol Maloney and husband, Bob, and family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James Carver. A special thank you, to the Northwestern Medical Center, St. Albans Dialysis Unit, Amcare Ambulance, The Krul’s and Georgia First Response. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
