Nancy Lee (Mayer) Arenz St. Albans: Nancy Lee (Mayer) Arenz, 72, passed away Saturday evening, July 05, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer, in the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans. Born in Hastings, Minnesota, May 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Carl Paul William Mayer and Verna Grace (Hone) Mayer. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1960 and attended the Humboldt Institute Business School in Minneapolis, MN for airline teletype. Nancy then resided in New York City where she was first employed at Pan-Am and then Air France Airlines at the LaGuardia Airport. In 1974, she relocated to St. Albans, VT where she was first employed at the St. Albans City School as a remedial worker, then secretary. Later, she took a position with A.N. Deringer, serving as secretary to the President and later became the Human Resource Manager until her retirement. Nancy was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a former choir member. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed doing needle work and was a wonderful cook. She collected antique chocolate pots and rose dishes. Nancy especially enjoyed her family, grandchildren and music. She leaves two children. Her daughter, Michelle Dow and her husband, Galen and her son, Scott Paul Arenz, her two grandsons, Samuel Paul Boudreau and Zachary Scott Boudreau and their father, Andre Boudreau all of St. Albans, VT. Her brother, Thomas Paul Mayer and his wife, Nancy of Scottsdale, AZ, her two sisters, Shirley Jane Rupert of Mahwah, NJ and Kathern Ann Bellicot and her husband Alain “Frenchie” of Clarkfield, MN, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters at an early age, Carol Jean Mayer and Peggy Ellen Mayer. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sanders and his staff and the Franklin County Rehab Center staff for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, St. Albans, VT with the Rev. Megan Stowe, Pastor, officiating. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, July 08, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans, VT. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11 Church St., St. Albans, VT or to the Jim Bashaw Cancer and Catastrophic Illness Fund, in care of Northwestern Medical Center, Community Relations Office, 133 Fairfield St., St. Albans, VT 05478.
