Obituary for Mildred Theresa McKinney

St. Albans – Mildred Theresa McKinney, 86, a lifelong area resident passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. She was born in St. Albans on November 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur “Pete” and Beatrice (Spenard) DesLauriers. On August 7, 1944, in Holy Angels Church, Mildred married Robert W. McKinney, who preceded her in death on November 14, 2001. Mildred graduated from Bellows Free Academy, Class of 1942 and then was bookkeeper for the former A.L. Barkyoumb, Co, retiring in 1987, following twenty-five years of service. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish and enjoyed arts, crafts, flowers and animals. Survivors include her children Michael and Carol McKinney and Wayne and Sally Tarr of St. Albans and Marilyn and Michael Renaudette of Williston; her grandchildren, Scott McKinney, Brian McKinney and wife, Kerrin, Katie Guerino and husband, Matt, Nicholas Tarr, Cynthia Prouty and Robert Edwards. She also leaves many great grandchildren; her brothers, Donald DesLauriers and wife, Betty, of St. Albans and Richard DesLauriers and wife, Faith, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Sandra DesLauriers of St. Albans and Alma DesLauriers of Jericho and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred is preceded in death by her grandson, Jason W. Tarr; sister, Beatrice “Dolly” Tarr and brothers, Norman and more recently, Edward, on October 18, 2011. Mildred’s family would like to thank the “girls” at Club Respite for the support and care she received. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday October 25, 2011, from 4 to 7 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 26th at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Church on Lake Street. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
