St. Albans – Mildred H. Laurie passed away Sunday evening, September 30, 2012, at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was 84 years old. Millie was born in St. Albans on October 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Clark C. and Frances (Kinsley) Hubbard. On July 2, 1955, at the Congregational Church in Swanton, she married Jesse M. “Jack†Laurie, who preceded her in death on January 5, 2001. Millie graduated from the former Swanton High School and then went on to receive her teaching degree from Johnson State College. She taught in schools in Waterbury and Highgate. She also did lectures for the Weight Watchers program. Millie was a founding member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in St. Albans, was active in Home Dem group and volunteered for the Red Cross Blood drawings in the St. Albans area. She also was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. Survivors include her children, Karen Laurie of Fairfax and Jon Laurie and his wife, Patti, of Nicholville, New York and her grandsons, Kyle, Shane and Darren Laurie and Alex Tinker. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Hubbard and his wife, Doris of Swanton; sister-in-law, Laura Laurie of St. Albans, several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday October 3, 2012, from 4PM to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held on Thursday October 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 350 South Main Street, (Route 7 South), St. Albans. Pastor Seth Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Red Cross, Vermont Chapter, 29 Mansfield Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
