Obituary for Michael Eugene Biggie
Saint Albans – Michael Eugene Biggie, a longtime area resident and Air Force Veteran, passed away on
Sunday, July 11th, 2021, at his home with his loving family at his side.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 27th, 1943, the son of the late Bert E. and Lilith (Brown) Biggie.
Michael would have turned 78 years old in a couple of weeks.

On July 19th, 1969, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs, VT, Michael married Helene

Michael was educated in Georgia and St. Albans. He graduated in 1961 from Enosburg High School. He
then entered the United States Air Force receiving his honorable discharge on October 1st, 1965.
Following his discharge, Michael worked in the accounting office at the former Fonda Container and
then went to work as the Rates and Tariff Clerk for the Central Vermont Railroad and New England
Central Railroad. He retired following 30 + years of service.

Michael was very involved in community affairs serving on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of
Commerce, as a Justice of the Peace, and as a Notary Public. He volunteered at the Haunted House,
enjoyed playing Santa Claus at the Holiday House Residential Care Facility, and was the raffle chairman
and a participant for many years with Cardiac Capers shows. Michael was a member of the Green
Mountain Post # 1, American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans, the former Owl club, St. Albans Lodge
1566, B.P.O.E. and St. Albans Lodger # 4, F&AM.

Michael was a die-hard Red Sox fan and planned many bus trips to Fenway Park when the Red Sox and
Yankees were playing. In 1980, he and Helen formed and operated Biggie Advertising which he operated
until his passing.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helene; their children, Amy Ward and her husband, Dennis and
their children, Gabrielle and Sydney, Brad Biggie and his wife Sarah, and their children, Silas and Finnian
and his god-son, Matthew Crawford and his wife Lindsey. He is also survived by his sister, Tina Record
and her husband, David, along with his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dominique and Jackie Gagner, Gaston and Lise Gagner, Annette and Wendell Devenger, Martha Gagner and Norman and Charlene Laroche as well as many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Rosie.

In addition to his parents, Bert and Lilith, Michael was predeceased by his in-laws, Armand and Jeanne
Gagner, Anita Laroche, Bernie Gagner and Jim Letourneau and nieces, Jeannie Gagner and Michelle

Michael’s family will receive family and friends on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the
American Legion Hall, 100 Parah Drive in St. Albans. Red Sox or patriotic attire is encouraged.

A private service for the family with military honors will take place at their convenience.

As Michael loved dogs, in lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in his name be made to the
Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadow, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
