St. Albans – Meridath Manchester Daley a lifelong resident of this community passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. She was born September 13, 1917, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Arthur and Augusta (Brown Warren) Manchester. Meridath was 95 years old. Meridath was married to Joseph B. Daley who preceded her in death on December 25, 1978. She was a member and Past President of Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion Auxiliary, member and Past Noble Grand of Bellevue Rebekah Lodge # 26 and lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. For several years Meridath was a Nurse’s Aide at the former St. Albans Hospital. Survivors include her son, Arthur Fortin of Zephyrhills, FL; step-son, Chris Daley of Belchertown, MA; step-daughter, Judith Harris of St. Albans; daughter-in-law, Louise Fortin of New Haven, CT; sister-in-law, Joyce Manchester of St. Albans; grandchildren, Chris Fortin, Lucille Jessey; step-granddaughter, Lori Harris; her great-grandchildren, Danielle Marie Jessey, Shane Fortin, Amanda Nicole Jessey and Leah Fortin and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carol Berthiaume. In addition to her parents and husband, Joe, Meridath was preceded in death by her son, Donald Fortin, Jr., and brother, Wallace Manchester. A special thank-you to the staff at Franklin County Home Heath and her niece, Carol Berthiaume, for all the care and support they gave her during the past several years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on, Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will then be held in the Heald Chapel at 2:00 PM in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be later this spring at the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 55 Day Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495 or the American Heart Association, Vermont Chapter, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495.
