Obituary for Maurice E. "Crick" McCracken, Sr

Maurice “Crick” McCracken, Sr. Georgia/St. Albans: M. Crick McCracken, Sr., 86, former owner of St. Albans Commissions Sales died late Wednesday evening, September 28, 2011 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with loving family at his bedside. He was born in Huntington, Quebec, on September 6, 1925, son of the late John & Elsie (Antoine) McCracken. Crick was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He later married the former Vivian Perretta on Dec. 16, 1945 in Malone, NY then moved to this area in 1947. For 40 years, Crick was a livestock auctioneer and owner of the “Commission Sales” until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1090 and St. Albans Elks Lodge # 1566 BOPE. Crick was an avid sportsman, enjoying both hunting and golfing. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Vivian A. McCracken of St. Albans. a daughter Vickie Lamothe of St. Albans, and two sons, John & Peggy McCracken of St. Albans and Butch and Patti McCracken of Edgewater, FL, a sister, Laura Adams of New Port Richey, FL, a special companion, his dog “Brandy”, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren , nieces and nephews. A public celebration of Crick’s life will be held Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the home of John & Peggy McCracken, 7311 Ethan Allen Highway, Georgia, next to the St. Albans Commission Sales. Per Crick’s request, a private funeral service for his family will be held at their convenience in the Heald Funeral Home, St. Albans with the Rev. Dr. Marguerite Gage, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions in Crick’s memory may be sent either the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or to the St. Albans Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
