Obituary for Mary Wood Yost
St. Albans - Mary Wood Yost went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 5th, 2011. Mary was a joyful Christian and a loving example to her family, church and friends. Mary was born on Sept. 1, 1940, to Melvert and Gladys Wood in Brockton, MA. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Gerald E. Yost; her daughter, Donna Aguiar and husband, Neil, her grandchildren Ryan, Caleb, Brandon and Sierra Aguiar; her sister, Dorothy Almassy; her brother, Robert Wood and her brother-in-law, Melvin W. Yost. She is also survived by a dear family of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David Gerald Yost. Mary graduated from Brockton High School. She was trained to be a nurse at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Following her graduation, she and Gerald married on Jan. 22, 1961. She then spent one year in Scotland nursing at Princess Margaret Rose Hospital while her husband studied at New College Edinburgh. They then moved to St. Albans, VT and began Christian ministry. In 2001, Mary was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Jesus Christ gave her the truth and power to defeat the spiritual and physical enemies of this disease. Her victory came because early in her life she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. And because of this, she knew her sins were forgiven and upon her death, Jesus would take her to heaven. Jesus taught her how to live a godly life through the teachings of the Scripture. Lastly, she knew that Christ rules over all things in life, even her condition, which came out of His love and was designed for good. Visiting hours are Tuesday Nov. 8th from 4-8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street in St. Albans. A service of Christian worship will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 350 S. Main St., St. Albans, VT 05478. Flowers are welcome at the Heald Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to Trinity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 422, St. Albans, VT 05478 - 802-527-7221 or Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) 1803 E.
