Mary J. Duchesne Richford - Mary J. Duchesne, 97, a resident of this area since 1997, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at the Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, where she has been a resident since 2002. Mary was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 5, 1910, the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Hermandinger. She was married to Joseph Duchesne, who preceded her in death in 1989. For many years, as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Mary owned and operated the Rambling Rose Rest Home in Harwich, Massachusetts. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in St. Albans, enjoyed quilting, sewing and has made and given away more than 1,500 lap robes to area nursing homes while she resided in Maryland and Vermont. Survivors include her son, Walter Mahany, Jr. and his wife, Robin of St. Albans, her grandchildren, Walter Mahany, III of St. Albans, Sarah Deguise of Fairfield, Jeremiah Mahany of South Burlington, Nathan Mahany of Burlington, Gary Sizer, Sandra Cooper, Paul Sizer, Stephen Sizer and Patricia Austin, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Sizer in 1992 and her siblings, August, Rose, Ann, Julia, William and Lena. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007, at 7:00 P.M. in the First Congregational Church on Church Street, St. Albans, with the Reverend Judith Steiger Kennedy officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Our Lady Of the Meadows, 1 Pinnacle Meadows, Richford, Vermont 05476. Messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
