Obituary for Marjorie V. Olio

Marjorie V. Olio St. Albans - Marjorie V. Olio, 92, a lifelong St. Albans resident, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, October 21, 2007 at Northwestern Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in St. Albans September 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Archie and Jennie (Hayes) Vincelette. She was the widow of Salvatore Olio who died October 14, 1969. Marge was employed by Central Vermont Public Service Corporation for 37 years. She was a 1933 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans where she was captain of the girls basketball team that won the state championship in her senior year. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church and the Womens Union of the church, a member of the Franklin County Business and Professional Women, Franklin County Chapter of the Association for the Blind, Franklin County Historical Society, St. Albans Historical Museum and a former volunteer at Verdelle Village Nursing Home (now Haven Health Center). Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Nancy Alexander Kenty of Gorham, ME, George Gilbert of Pine City, MN, Loretta Lamonda of Burlington, VT, Theresa Bedard of Montreal P.Q., Wayne Richard of Massachusetts, Margaret Richard of White River Jct, and Sandra Alexander of Bremerton, WA. She also leaves her extended family, the Chagnons of St. Albans, Robert “Soy” and Edna Chagnon, their daughter, Susie and her husband, Michael, and their son Patrick and his wife Margaret and their children, Alexis, Katherine, Dylan, Luke and Ariel. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore Olio, sisters; Marion Alexander, Helen Gilbert, Doris Richard and Ruth White, a brother, Charles Vincelette and nephews, Wendell “Bing” Gilbert and Robert Vincelette Special thanks go to her wonderful care givers from Franklin County Home Health Agency, many of whom became her cherished and trusted friends and the nursing staff at Northwestern Medical Center as well as her Rugg Street neighbors who kept her in their vigilant eye and caring hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church on Congress Street in St. Albans with Pastor William Simmons officiating. There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.
