Montgomery, VT/Waterbury, CT - Marion Robertsen Delear succumbed to congestive heart failure on February 27, 2012, at the Franklin County Rehabilitation Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank & her daughter Betsy; sisters, Kathleen, Margot, Anita and Hope. She is survived by her children, Susan & husband Paul of Vermont, David & wife Miriam, James & wife Jessica and Janet & friend Steve of California; her sister, Vivian of Florida; her 5 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. She had recently moved to Montgomery Vermont from Waterbury, Connecticut to be with her daughter Susan and son-in-law, Paul Fernald. Marion was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1919 to Thomas and Alice Robertsen; she was one of six sisters. After high school in Fairfield, CT she met and married Frank Joseph Delear on Sept 3rd, 1940. They raised their five children in Stratford, CT. Upon retirement Marion and Frank moved to a favorite destination, Centerville, Cape Cod. They explored all the Cape had to offer for 26 years. Marion was active in her church and volunteered cooking for the homeless for 13 years in Hyannis. Their home on the Cape was a favorite destination for their children and friends. Marion had lifelong interests in reading and playing bridge as well as biking, swimming, yoga, music, jewelry making, crosswords, the Red Sox and baking magnificent brownies. As Frank’s health deteriorated they moved to Wolcott, CT in 2004 with Susan and son-in-law, Paul. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary hosted by their children and multitude of friends. Frank passed in the winter of his 92nd birthday and Marion began to form new bonds in the Wolcott community through the Charles Rietdyke Senior Center and All Saints Episcopal Church. She joined a new cadre of bridge players and was active at the Senior Center. In 2011, she had heart valve surgery and when diagnosed with congestive heart failure moved to Vermont for the loving care of her daughter Susan. Her final months were spent at her home in Montgomery and at the St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center and Franklin County Rehabilitation Center, where the staff offered hope, kindness and attentiveness to her needs. Marion spent her youth in Fairfield, CT; married life, in Bridgeport, CT, Bronxville, NY, Windsor Locks, CT & Stratford CT and her retired life in Centerville, MA, Wolcott CT, Waterbury, CT and Montgomery, VT. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 10th, at 11:30 AM at All Saints Church in Wolcott, CT. in lieu of flowers. memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Episcopal Church, 282 Bound Line Road, Wolcott, CT 06716 or Charles Rietdyke Senior Center, 211 Nichols Road, Wolcott, CT 06716.
