Obituary for Marie O. Putnam

Marie O. Putnam Georgia - Marie O. Putnam, 61, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord, on Sunday, July 15, 2007, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Her loving family was at her side. She was born in St. Albans April 15, 1946 the daughter of the late Edward Taylor and Margaret (Young) Taylor. She married Francis C. Putnam in 1966 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Albans. They would have celebrated their 41st anniversary on July 23rd. Marie dedicated her life to God and her family and then to her work at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans where she was a Hematology Specialist with over 40 years of employment. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965. She had many passions in life, one of which was her great love of photography which was demonstrated by the many pictures of her family throughout her home. She loved to read, crochet, and, most recently, knit comfort shawls for cancer patients. Marie was also up for a quick ride on the back of her husband’s Harley. In addition to her husband, Francis, survivors include her mother, Margaret Taylor of St. Albans, three children; James Putnam and Heidi McNally of St. Albans, Diane and Jay Weishaar and their three children, Taylor, James and Jack of St. Albans and Rebecca and Toby Gamache and their two children, Kristen and Megan of St. Albans. She also leaves two brothers; James and his wife, Ann Nutting of Florida and Steven M. Taylor of Fairfax, VT, seven sisters; Sheila and Larry Snaith of St. Albans, Priscilla and Stanley Putnam of St. Albans Bay, Joanne and Bill Gordon of North Hero, Edwina and Joe Leclair of St. Albans, Rosemary and Stewart Barrows of North hero, Cynthia and Dan Ranks of Fairfax, VT and Robin and Michael Pepin of St. Albans. She also leaves sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce Pregent of Burlington, Ardell and Kermit Fitzgerald of Georgia, Norman and Sandra Putnam of St. Albans, Stanley and Priscilla Putnam of St. Albans Bay and Kathy and Danny Morton of St. Albans along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Taylor, her sister, Barbara Taylor Coon, brother-in-law, Rollin Putnam of Georgia, and her grandparents. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Carl and Margaret Putnam of Georgia. Marie, we love you and will miss you. You will always be in our minds. We will speak of you and laugh with you often with fond memories. We are proud of you and you will always be in our hearts. You have graced our lives more than you will ever know. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19th at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street in St. Albans. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Susan B. Anthony Breast Cancer Fund, c/o Northwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 1370, St. Albans, VT 05478. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.
