Obituary for Marian L. Dague

St. Albans – Marian L. Dague, 79, a city resident and an area business woman since 1974, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her family at her side. Born on December 28, 1930, in Little Falls, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank D. and Lura (Rising) Davy. Marian was a 1952 graduate of Plattsburg State Teachers College where she met Leonard D. Dague and they were married in Fort Plains, New York on August 1, 1953. Leonard preceded her in death on May 25, 1983. Leonard and Marian moved to St. Albans in 1974, when they purchased the Ben Franklin store in St. Albans. They later purchased the Ben Franklin store in Swanton. Marian operated the stores with her son Eric until her retirement in 1997. In addition to running the family business, she was an avid gardener, cook, and enjoyed her morning cup of coffee with the 8AM Maple Field Coffee group. Marian was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing every week with a special group of friends. Survivors include her son, Eric B. Dague of Highgate; her daughter, Erica DeBellis and husband, David of St. Albans; her two grandsons, Nicolas and Jacob; her sister, Margaret Marcy of Boonville, New York, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by her sister, Esther Little and brother, David Davy. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 2:30 PM in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Church Street, St. Albans. The Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage will officiate. Marian’s family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.
