Obituary for Malcolm E. Bevins

St. Albans: Malcolm E. Bevins, 90, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 3, 2014. Born to Harrison M. and Caroline (Boyton) Bevins on April 19, 1924, he was a lifelong resident of St. Albans. Prior to completing high school, he joined the 5th army division in 1942, serving in Italy until his discharge in 1945. Upon returning home, he completed his high school education, graduating from BFA in the spring of 1947. Malcolm was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years, where he worked as both a mail carrier and a clerk. He retired in September 1985. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and deer hunting. He was a 50 year member of the Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and in more recent years had joined Robert E. Glidden Post 758, VFW and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Malcolm is predeceased by his parents and siblings, including a twin sister who passed away at six months of age, brothers, Winston G. Bevins and Roswell M. Bevins and sister, Elizabeth M. Linzmeier He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Louise E. Bevins, his son, Randall, daughters, Mary MacGregor and her husband James and Jennifer A. Bevins and granddaughters, Megan, Sarah and Emily MacGregor, along with several nieces and nephews A funeral service will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Heald Funeral Home Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with the Rev. David S. Veale, SSC, Pastor of St. Luke Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
