Obituary for M. Pearl Lumbra

M. Pearl Lumbra St. Albans - M. Pearl Lumbra, 71, a lifelong resident of St. Albans passed away Thursday evening, October 25, 2007 at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born in St. Albans February 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Alma (LaRocque) Gratton. On December 29, 1956, Pearl married Francis W. Lumbra in Holy Angels Catholic Church. Pearl was a member of the auxiliaries of Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, VFW. In her leisure she enjoyed knitting Afghans, gardening, cooking, eating out and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of more than 51 years, Francis, Pearl leaves a daugter and her husband, Doris and Pete Reed of Georgia, VT, four sons and their wives; Hilton and Lisa Lumbra of St. Albans, Philip and Allison Lumbra of Bakersfield, VT., Jay and Carol Lumbra of Fairfield, VT, and Lynn and Maria Lumbra of Sheldon, her sisters, Theresa Garceau and Lillian Rocheleau of St. Albans, her brothers; Raymond and his wife, Lorraine Gratton of Montgomery, VT, Ernest and Helen Gratton of St. Albans, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Gratton of St. Albans, her grandchildren; Travis Lumbra and wife, Michelle and their daughter, Kyla of Milton, Tarah and her husband, Tyler Lothian of St. Albans, Stephen Lumbra of Bakersfield, Shane Lumbra of Bakersfield, Cody Reed and Jenna Reed of Georgia and Jason Lumbra and Chloe Lumbra of Fairfield, Justina Lumbra and Lizzy Lumbra of Sheldon, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Maurice, Leo, Henry, Gerard and Oliver “Joe” Gratton and 2 sisters, Lucille Racette and Jeanette Leadbeater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery..
