Daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend. Career-woman, fly-fisher, tele-skier, golfer and dog-lover. Lynn Austin Laberge died on November 16, 2009, after stubbornly turning a six-month death sentence into a full four-year sparring match with cancer. She fought with intelligence, intuition, and not an ounce of give-up, but the foe was too great. Lynn Ann Austin was born May 19, 1964, in St. Albans, VT., daughter of John and Gertrude Austin and younger sister of Jay Austin. She was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy and Champlain College. In 1990, she wed Joe Laberge and they moved off to Salt Lake City, UT for adventures skiing, fishing and golfing. Lynn was the proud adoptive mother of Robbie and Jackie Laberge, whom she loved beyond measure. Lynn is survived by her mother and brother, and by her husband and children who will all miss her sorely. Visiting hours were held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 S State St.; Murray, Utah from 6:00 until 8:00 on Thursday, November 19. Funeral services will be held at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 Murray Holladay Rd; Murray, UT at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 20, with visiting hours for two hours prior to the service and a Celebration of Life gathering afterward. People are encouraged to come prepared with their best, funniest, or most touching Lynn story. Lynn’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, from 4 to 7 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, and in observation of all the help that has been provided to Lynn's family during this tough time, please consider making a generous donation to the Utah Food Bank or your local food pantry. Private messages of condolences to Lynn’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
