Obituary for Lucille Austin Bevins
St. Albans – Lucille A. Bevins, 99, a lifelong area resident passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Homestead at Pillsbury. She had a long and good life. She worked at the Woolen Mill in Winooski, Union Carbide and owned and operated Holle Jean’s Dress Shop and Maquam Shore Grocery. Although Lucille was always working, she never lost sight of her priorities. Her first priority was always her family. She loved family gatherings, where she could make her special baked beans and potato salad. She spent the last few months of her life at Homestead, where she received the most incredible care from a special, loving staff for which the family is most appreciative. Survivors include her three children, David W. Bevins and wife, Bea, of Burnt Hills, NY, Larry F. Bevins and wife, Mary, of St. Albans, and Holle Forbes and husband, Allen, of Needham, MA; six grandchildren, Michael and Tory of Burnt Hills, NY, Chad and wife, Susan, of Scarborough, ME, Jamie and wife, Michelle, of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Carly and Harris of Needham, MA. She also has four great-grandchildren, Dariann, Thomas, Caroline and Mackenna, two brothers, Robert Austin of Sun City, FL and Ralph Austin of St. Albans; two sisters, Ramona Giroux of Swanton and Janice Austin of Middleboro, MA and a wonderful caregiver and special friend, Marlene Bevins. Lucille was predeceased by her parents, husband Wayne, of sixty years, infant daughter, Carol; four brothers, Byron Austin, Kenneth Austin, Wayne Austin and Harlan Austin and her five sisters, Leona Bevins, Pauline Gowing, Elaine Bryce, Esther Putnam and Arlene St. Marie. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Homestead at Pillsbury, 3 Harborview Drive, St. Albans (off from South Main Street) with the Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage officiating. Lucille’s family will receive friends following the service at a reception hosted by the Homestead. Interment will be later this spring in the Georgia Plain Cemetery.
