Obituary for Louis Paul Shepard

St. Albans/Georgia – Louis Paul Shepard, a lifelong resident of this area and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Born on November 5, 1929, in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Clarence and Beatrice (Moore) Shepard. Louis was 84 years old. Louis was a 1947 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge he came back to St. Albans and was employed by the former H.P. Hood, Co retiring following 30 years of service. He was communicant of Holy Angels Parish and a member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Claire (Giroux) Shepard of Georgia; their two sons, Steven Shepard and his wife, Kathy, of Georgia and Brian Shepard and his wife, Kelly, of East Fairfield; their daughter, Nancy Colburn and her husband, Mike, of Burke, Virginia and his grandchildren, Lindsey Bourbeau and her husband, Brian, Kaitlin Lumbra and her husband, Steven, Samuel Shepard , Jack Colburn and Claire Colburn as well as his great grandchildren, Myles and Charlotte Bourbeau and a third great-grandchild due in September. Louis is also survived by his two brothers, Richard Shepard and his wife, Marge, of Essex, Junction and Ronald Shepard and his wife, Eleanor, of St. Albans Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02140.
