Obituary for Logan "Pog" J. Newell

Georgia – Logan “Pog” J. Newell, a lifelong resident of this area passed away unexpectedly Sunday February 24, 2013, at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born in St. Albans on February 21, 1996, he was the son of Larry “Bug” Newell and Heidi Hughes. Logan was 17 years old. Logan was a Junior at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, a Junior Cadet with the Georgia Volunteer Fire Department and a member of “Vermods”. He loved to fish, hunt, attend truck and tractor pulls and tinkering with “VDUBS”. Logan was always on the go with his friends and always enjoyed a volleyball game at “Pop’s”. Survivors include his parents, Larry and Heidi; his brother and best friend, Ryan, and his girlfriend, Carita; his sister, Amber Newell; his “Gram”, Marilyn Letourneau and her companion, John Flood; his “Pops”, William Richards and his “Grammie”, Virginia Richards. Logan is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Debbie and Doug Grevatt and their daughter, Fallyn; Brian and Lisa Hayden and Haley Adams and her companion, Jason “Jaybird” Pollard; his special cousin, Nick; his cousins, Travis and Ashley Johnston and their 3 boys, and Johnny Farr and his special friends, Jordan, Colby, “Big”, Chris, Josh, “Uncle Buck” and Katie; his canine companion and “Sleeping Buddy” Jake and many friends. Logan was preceded in death by his aunt, Laurie Newell and his great-grandparents. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 AM at the Georgia Fire Station, Ethan Allen Highway with Pastor Charles Kuthe, Chaplain of the Georgia Volunteer Fire Department officiating. Interment will be later this spring in the Georgia Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Logan’s name may be made to the Georgia Fire & Rescue Association, 4134 Ethan Allen Highway, Georgia, Vermont 05478.
