Bakersfield – Linda Mary (Parrotte) Elwood passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with her family at her side. She fought lung cancer for 1 year. Born on October 18, 1950, in St. Albans, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Betty (Westover) Parrotte. Linda worked as a LNA for years at the Holiday House and Verdelle Village Nursing Homes. She loved crocheting, knitting and playing her DSI. She also loved country and bluegrass music and was an avid Red Sox fan. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Elwood of Bakersfield; daughter, Betty Jo (Darrel) Bessey of Bakersfield; son, William Elwood of Bakersfield; grandkids, “her little angelsâ€, Rose Bessey, Donald Barratt, McKayla Elwood, Hailey Elwood and Nicole Brace; 1 step-granddaughter, Rachel Stoesser and 3 step great grandkids, Mykaela, Grayson and Michael Stoesser. Linda is also survived by her father-in-law, Gordon (Terri) Elwood; her brother, Lewis (Cheryl) Parrotte of NY and Roy (Pauline) Parrotte of St. Albans; sisters, Shirley Stine of NY and Jean Dudley and companion, Earl Greenia of St. Albans; brothers & sisters-in-law, Royal Elwood of CA, Randy (Kim) Elwood of SC, Roger (Daine) Elwood of Enosburg, Ricky (Brenda) Elwood of Enosburg, Robert (Liz) Elwood of NH, Rose Friot of Enosburg and Ramona Deakin of CT; a special niece, Angela Elwood; several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Jake Stevens, Doreen Rust and Peggy Benware. Linda was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Barratt; sister, Judy Albu and sister-in-law, Kathy Elwood. Linda’s family would like to thank the staff of Franklin County Rehab Center for the care and support that she and her family received during her stay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 14th, at 11:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street, St. Albans. Interment will be later this spring in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Rehab Center, Activities Fund, 110 Fairfax Road, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
