Mr. Leopold A, “Butch†Gaudreau, II So Alburgh/Fairfax - Mr. Leopold A. Gaudreau, II, 57, a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, surrounded by his daughter and son, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 22, 1950, in St. Albans, Vermont the son of the late Clyde and Gladys (Comstock) Gaudreau. He lived in Franklin County most of his life. Due to his illness he moved to his daughter’s home in South Alburgh. He attended Holy Angels grade school and graduated from Bellows Free Academy of St. Albans in 1969. Butch, as he was known to all his friends and family, worked for twenty-two years at BFA - St. Albans in the Maintenance Department and later at the Comfort Inn for twelve years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. One of his favorite activities was just to spend time with his grandchildren, as he was known as “Papaâ€. Butch was a Red Sox and Packers fan and enjoyed going to racing events with his good buddies. He is survived by his three children, Leo “Little Butch†Gaudreau and his wife, Raquel, Cheri Westover and her husband, Kevin, and Heather Smith and her husband, John; three grandchildren Jakob and Kyleah Westover, Madeleine Gaudreau and a granddaughter, Olivia who is due in February, his sisters, Lorraine Moye, Nancy Houle and her husband, Albert, and his special buddy, Mark Kemp. In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his twin brothers, Frank and Francis and his sister, Gloria. A special thank you to the Visiting Nurses Association, Dr. Ted James and his staff, Dr. Susan Burdette-Radeux and her staff and Dr. Dennis Plante and his staff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 14, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant. Butch’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-9 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bennita Twitchell Cancer Support Group, 111 Colchester Avenue, ACC - EP, Level 2, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
