St. Albans – Leona Evelyn Favreau, 82, a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehab Center following a brief illness with her family at her side. Born on August 6, 1927, at home in Georgia, Leona was the daughter of the late Jed John and Gladys (Bessette) Bombard. Leona attended school in Georgia, and during her working career, was employed at Martin’s Linen and Union Carbide Corporation. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 321. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. Survivors include her children; Paul Favreau and his wife, Kathi, of East Georgia, John Favreau and his wife, Rebecca ,of Deland, Florida and Rose Gauthier and her fiancé, Greg Pryme, of Swanton, six grandchildren, Christina Borland, Robert Favreau, Matthew Barnes, Amanda Caplinger, Kevin Favreau and Hillary Stine and seven great grandchildren. Leona is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Leroux of St. Albans Town and Esther Ellis and her husband, Alfred, of Georgia and her close friends at Heritage Lane and the King’s Daughters home. In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her former husband, Paul E. Favreau, on March 23, 1993, her sister, Reta Klasoskus, and son-in-law, René Gauthier on August 22, 2007. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., St. Albans with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy, Pastor at Holy Angels Catholic Church officiating. Leona’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
