Obituary for Leon Charles Bushey, Sr.

Fairfield - Leon Charles Bushey Sr. a lifelong resident and farmhand for several area dairy farms, passed away on Tuesday October 18th 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.


Born in St. Albans on July 17th 1946, he was the son of Raymond James and Mary (St. Andrews) Bushey. Leon was 76 years old.


On May 7th 1966, he married Pauline Jane Fiske.


Leon was known by family and friends as the "Jack of all trades" or the "Community go to guy". He could fix anything. Many people also called him the "Mower man", he got a kick out of that. He enjoyed working on his vehicles, mowers and tractors "Puttering around" he called it. He had a mowing business with 28 accounts in Franklin County including St. Patrick, Egypt and Bradley cemeteries. Leon was proud of the many ribbons he won from 1993 through 2005 for his maple syrup, winning the Award of Merit at the VT Maple Festival in 2001.


Leon was well known for work on several farms including Francis & Michael Howrigan, Lawrence Howrigan, Fred & Betty Ryan and Gilles Rainville farms.


Leon's most cherished time was spent with his family, especially his great grandson Brady Morits also known as "Little Man or the "Animal". They loved each other dearly; you could see them on tractor rides grabbing snacks and drinks at the local stores.


Leon is survived by his wife of 56 years Pauline, their children Leon Charles "Chucky" Bushey Jr., Lori Jean "Pumpkin" Britch, her husband David as well as his grandchildren Benjamin "Benny" Britch, his girlfriend Jessica L'Esperance, their daughter Alexis "Lexi" and Erin "Peanut" Britch, her boyfriend Jason Boudreau and her son Brady Morits.


He is also survived by his siblings Nancy Dash, Harvey Bushey, Roger Bushey, many nieces and nephews and former grandson in law Aaron Morits.


In addition to his parents Leon is predeceased by his brothers Pete Bushey, Raymond Jr., sister Donna Bushey and several baby siblings in heaven.


To honor Leon's wishes there will be no services and a private interment will take place later at the family lot in Egypt cemetery.
